The National Council will discuss the witness protection bill tomorrow

The Federal National Council is discussing at its seventh session tomorrow evening, headed by Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Council, a federal bill on witness protection, which consists of 29 articles.

The bill, which was previously published by Al-Khaleej, aims to activate the role of community participation in detecting crimes, protecting witnesses, victims, informants, experts, secret sources, their family members, people closely related to them and whom the judiciary decides to protect.

The draft stated that those covered by protection are: the witness, the victim, the amount, the expert, the secret source and their family members, or any person whose life or safety may be at risk, because of his close relationship to the protected person, or who the judicial authority decides to protect.

According to the text of the draft law, a penalty of imprisonment for a period of no less than six months and a fine of no less than 50 thousand dirhams and no more than 100 thousand dirhams, or one of the two penalties, shall be imposed on any person who discloses information or credited data.
